About Tangail.Net
Open data, cited sources, transparent methods
Tangail.Net is a local information platform from Tangail, Bangladesh. Its English section answers everyday questions — the time, weather and prayer times in a city, a country’s holidays or postal codes, exchange rates and unit conversions — using open data and published formulas, with the source named on every page.
Our standards
- No invented data. Phone numbers, prices, ratings and statistics come from a named source or are left out. Calculated values (sun and prayer times, distances, conversions) say how they are calculated.
- Sources on every page. Each page ends with its source, licence and, where relevant, the date the data was retrieved.
- Estimates are labelled. Live population counters, flight times and spot-based gold prices are clearly marked as estimates or references, not official or retail figures.
- Paid placements are labelled. Nobody can pay to change data, rankings or reviews.

How calculations work
Sun, moon and season times use Jean Meeus’s astronomical algorithms. Prayer times use each country’s usual method (for example Umm al-Qura, ISNA, Karachi or the Muslim World League) with the local time zone, and show Hanafi Asr where it differs. Time zones and daylight saving time come from the IANA time-zone database built into modern browsers and servers. Distances use the great-circle (haversine) formula on a sphere of radius 6,371 km.
